At Tulip Winery the winemaker chose to take high quality Syrah grapes from the northernmost vineyards in Kfar Yuval near Metula, in order to create a robust, exciting French-style wine that was aged in barrels for a lengthy period of time. The winemaker chose to add 10% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Karmei Yosef vineyards to the final blend.Pre-fermentation, the grapes went through cold maceration for a few days, in order to attain deep color and aroma. The grapes went through alcoholic fermentation for seven days and then rested atop the skins for an additional number of days. During pressing, the free run liquid was separated from the pressed wine in order to prevent bitterness in the wine. The wine was aged for 14 months in French and American oak barrels in order to obtain a richness of wood flavors and spices. Before bottling, the wine was coarsely filtrated in order to preserve its flavors.
This is an impressive wine with the deep, dense purple-maroon red color that is characteristic of this variety, prominent black fruit aromas, vanilla and caramel flavors, ripe and soft astringency and it has a long, pleasant finish.
